Buy a Whole House Fan

This summer has been predicted to be cooler than usual. This is a great development, if you decide to install a whole house fan. A whole house fan takes the air from the house and puts it into the attic. This hot air is cooler than what is in the attic.

The result of using a whole house fan is a savings of up to 5% on your energy bill. The fan can cost anywhere from $150 to $350. The cost of the total installation is closer to $1000 to $1600 and should be installed by a reputable electrician.

A whole house fan is best used for days under 70 degrees. For hotter days, you will still need to use an air conditioner. There is the potential of a back draft problem, so make sure that it is installed by a reputable individual. If you have the money to invest in this item, it would be a good money saver.

Whole house fans are not only the least expensive, they are also the most environmentally friendly way to cool a home in areas where outdoor temperatures and humidity are low enough at night to provide cooling. Unlike conventional air conditioners, they don't use any potentially harmful refrigerants and power consumption is extremely low. I have really been trying to get the word out about this method of cooling at Whole House Fan Info because I think not enough people are aware of the benefits!

The idea of using the existing structure of one's house makes since as the installation cost of the whole house fan is rather low. With a 5% saving on an annual energy bill it would take 5 to 10 years to get a return on investment. If the installation can be done by DIY method then ROI will be achieved even sooner. Also one of the benefits of this system is that almost any house can avail of it.

Do you think the system can be modified to reduce installation costs even more?

It seems like a good idea, depending on how much energy you use, I don't see it being that great of a cost saver, given the time value of money. It certainly can be in some cases, depending on where you live. However, hopefully they will be even more efficent in the future to get a better or if any ROI.
